Things are going well for George Russell: last weekend, the 26-year-old won the Austrian Grand Prix.

Three Brits dominate qualifying at Silverstone

Max Verstappen leads the Driver-WM in Formula 1 with a clear advantage. However, the competition is gradually waking up. In qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Dutchman had to give way to three Britons.

George Russell, Mercedes driver, secured the Pole Position for his home race. The Englishman snatched the best starting position in qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in difficult conditions from his fellow countrymen Lewis Hamilton (second Mercedes) and Lando Norris (McLaren). World champion Max Verstappen (Netherlands) had to settle for fourth place in the Red Bull, while Nico Hülkenberg reached a strong sixth place in the Haas.

For Russell, it is the third Pole Position of his career and the second of this season after Montreal. In the previous week, the 26-year-old won the Austrian Grand Prix, but he benefited from a collision between Verstappen and Norris.

Verstappen leads the Driver-WM before the twelfth season race on Sunday (16:00 CEST/Sky and in the ntv.de-Live Ticker) with 81 points advantage over Norris.

In the overall standings of Formula 1, Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen maintains a substantial lead over his competitors. Despite this, teams like McLaren, led by Lando Norris, are beginning to pose a challenge. During the qualifying session for the British Grand Prix, Verstappen was outperformed by three British drivers, including George Russell in the Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton in a different Mercedes model.
