Thomas Müller believes the German national team has the potential to achieve greatness.

As one of the seasoned players in Germany's European Championship roster, Thomas Müller has experienced victory with the national squad since their triumph at the 2014 World Cup. Confident as ever, he shares with ntv.de what holds key importance for him while playing.

When asked about Germany's potential to secure the European Championship title on home ground, Müller, a longtime FC Bayern star, without a doubt affirmed, "Absolutely, we can!" Admiring the progress made by national team coach, Julian Nagelsmann, he appreciates how the latter steered the DFB team to regain their footing. Müller further stated that not only has Nagelsmann been able to make necessary adjustments, "Everyone is constantly changing. You're always trying to fine-tune nuances in order to be even more successful."

Reflecting on the journey from the disappointing November internationals to the revamped squad in the March internationals under Nagelsmann's guidance, Müller believed the team has put in tremendous effort towards achieving success.

It is communication, according to Müller, that holds the key to success in football. He emphasized, "Clear communication is vital in a team; otherwise, it will fall apart." Every team needs a clear game plan and shared understanding, or it would lead to failure.

Müller offers some valuable wisdom to aspiring young players: preserving their sense of enjoyment and pushing out of their comfort zones. "The joy of work, the suffering, the prepping, where you put your body through the driven snow – it all pays off in the end," he advised. If players fail to endure these challenges, they won't be in contention for top-tier football. However, those willing to challenge their limits are given the best chance to triumph. Though this doesn't guarantee success, since other players face the same struggles, overcoming personal obstacles is crucial for success.

Müller laments for those players not selected for the European Championships, such as Mats Hummels or teammate Leon Goretzka, stating, "It's impossible, I'm sorry," implying there's no amount of persuasion or justification one can employ to participate in this prestigious event. The German team faces Scotland, Hungary, and Switzerland in the initial round.
