Thomas Müller acknowledges the hierarchical superiority within the German national team.

Thomas Müller, the veteran footballer, bursts with energy as he joins the European Championship training camp of the German national team. The conversation revolves around his knowledge of rap songs and the importance of perfect grammar. He also discusses the potential end of his career as a player for the original Bayern team.

Thomas Müller, a popular German footballer from Bayern Munich, doesn't consider the possibility of retiring yet. Instead, he's focused on the tasks ahead of him in the national team. His current contract with Bayern Munich keeps him from simply leaving his employer. With a lighthearted laugh, he jokes, "So in a certain way, I guess I'm a substitute even here."

Müller has never been close to retiring from the DFB team, even during his "farewell speech" on television during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He doubted he would make it back into the national team, but he didn't have control over the coaches' decisions.

Set to participate in his eighth major tournament, Müller will play as a substitute. The clear role distribution is critical to success, in Müller's opinion. During the surprising semi-final appearance at the 2010 World Cup, the role of each player "naturally became clearer." During the triumph four years later in Brazil, the expectations were "clearly communicated by Jogi Löw." If the situation was reversed, Müller acknowledges, "2012 and 2018 had their issues with that."

For Müller, it's crucial that Nagelsmann discusses his plans for each player to prevent any disappointments right before a game. These disappointments can negatively affect a player's performance.

Regarding his role in the DFB team, Müller clarifies, "I'm not here to entertain - you won't get too far through entertaining others." The veteran player then acknowledges his weak spot in the field of rap music and quips, "I'm more of a yodeler, but I find it fascinating to learn about it." Despite this, he has to remind his younger teammates that proper grammar is still important in the English language. He insists, "You can still use a 'he, she, it' in a sentence."
