Thomas Müller accidentally qualifies himself for the European Championship.

Thomas Müller remains cryptic: The 2014 World Cup winner secures a spot for the European Championships, but the DFB refuses to confirm Müller's nomination. Could this be part of the plan? Meanwhile, the European Championship squad keeps growing.

Julian Nagelsmann surprises with an unconventional approach when announcing his players for the European Championship. The enthusiasm for the tournament in Germany (from June 14 to July 14) is being stoked even further. ntv.de has compiled all the nominated players here - and also records how the invitation process for the European Championships makes its way to the public.

Thomas Müller: Granny Lotti, Günther Jauch, or Tagesschau? Müller made the announcement of the European Championships on his own. And this wasn't a planned move: when asked, the DFB revealed that this wasn't an official campaign by the association, but Müller's personal endeavor. The Bayern Munich experienced player had some fun with it. In an Instagram video in which he performs a trick shot in the new German national jersey at the Allianz Arena, the veteran confirmed, "I'm also going to the EURO." Müller, who has already played 128 games for Germany (scoring 47 goals), and is currently a substitute in attack, will likely play a supporting role at his eighth major tournament. Müller's nomination is a certainty for the European Championships.

Deniz Undav: A Stuttgart European champion nominates a Stuttgart footballer for the European Championships: national handball player Kai Häfner, European champion with TVB Stuttgart, announced the nomination of Stuttgart player Deniz Undav. Häfner kicks a soccer ball into the handball goal, but the video on X shows that he likely couldn't recommend himself for a European Championship nomination. Instead, another Stuttgart player has been chosen to go to the European Championships. Undav, who only played his first game in the DFB jersey in March.

David Raum: "Final call for passenger David Raum," announces Lufthansa. "David Raum, please proceed to the boarding gate for your flight to the 2024 European Championships!" There, the Leipzig left-back will have to show his European Championship ticket for the summer, and then he's set. Raum has played 20 international games so far, with the 2022 World Cup being his only tournament. He started in every game of the preliminary round in Qatar. At the European Championships, Raum will likely act as a backup on the left side for Maximilian Mittelstädt from Stuttgart. Raum's nomination is likely to mark the end (and as expected) of Robin Gosens' European Championship journey. The current Union player had worked his way up to become a beacon of hope at the 2021 European Championships with great intensity, but was never able to maintain his stellar performance, especially during the preliminary round thriller (4:2) against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal.

İlkay Gündoğan: The most logical of all nominations. Given that Gündoğan is the captain of the DFB squad, ejecting him would be akin to an earthquake. A fan discovered posters with Gündoğan's photo on Alexanderplatz in Berlin-Mitte: the FC Barcelona midfielder with a grin on his face, with the headline, "İlkay Gündoğan for Germany." And the DFB verified the authenticity of this discovery by sharing the photo on Instagram. Surrounded by the up-and-coming stars Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, he is supposed to steer the game.

Antonio Rüdiger: The Real Madrid defender was born in Berlin - and you can't find better kebabs anywhere in Germany than in the capital. So it makes sense that the 31-year-old's nomination was announced at a restaurant. "Antonio, my brother," says "Hisar Fresh Food," located between Kreuzberg and Schöneberg, "I wanted to let you know that you've been selected for the European Championships." And because Rüdiger had been a guest as a student, the first 50 students are getting a free kebab today. The nominee himself simply commented: "Hisar Döner = Best Döner." After the 2:3 against Turkey in November last year, Rüdiger took his DFB teammates to this restaurant for a meal.

Joshua Kimmich: Footballer Joshua Kimmich is a fan of the soap opera "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" on RTL. So, it was fitting that actor Wolfgang Bahro, who plays Hans-Joachim "Jo" Gerner in the series, had the honor of announcing another player participating in the European Football Championship. Bahro, or Gerner as he's known in the show, shared a short video from the set in Babelsberg, where he revealed Kimmich would be joining the tournament. The two had briefly met during a promotional shoot for the German national team in November 2017, with Kimmich asking Bahro for a photo.

Pascal Gross: Quiz master Günther Jauch asked the soccer audience, "Which player has been nominated for the European Championship?" He joked it was an easy question, a "five-euro question," before revealing that Pascal Gross would be representing his country. The 32-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder had played five international matches and was named as backup for the central duo of Toni Kroos and Robert Andrich.

Robert Andrich: German footballer Robert Andrich learned about his European Championship nomination in a special way. His teammate and brother-in-law Toni Kroos, along with Felix, shared the news in their podcast "Einfach mal Luppen." Andrich impressed with his performances for Bayer Leverkusen, and Kroos praised him, saying he hoped his teammate would maintain his "outstanding" form throughout the tournament.

Leroy Sané: Coach Nagelsmann is eager to see Leroy Sané's skill at the European Championships. The attacker's nomination was revealed by Frankfurt's Schirn Kunsthalle. However, it's possible Sané would only be used as a replacement for a member of the attacking trio of Florian Wirtz, İlkay Gündoğan, and Jamal Musiala, who form Germany's magic triangle.

Maximilian Mittelstädt: Left-back Maximilian Mittelstädt received his confirmation for the German national team from singer Peter Schilling. After playing two international matches, Mittelstädt is a regular starter, although he's not expected to be a game-changer.

Kai Havertz: His extraordinary season in the English Premier League made Kai Havertz's nomination a mere formality. The soccer trio from Calcio Berlin announced his selection as a starting forward. Despite some ups and downs, Havertz has found himself in the starting eleven for the tournament.

Robin Koch: The fourth central defender spot often has more potential for sitting on the bench, which Robin Koch may face. His nomination was revealed on the YouTube show "World Wide Living Room." With Schlotterbeck, Tah, and Antonio Rüdröger already confirmed as starters, and Waldemar Anton potentially joining the squad, Koch or another player could be dropped before the start of the tournament.

Chris Führich: The left-side role player secured his European Championship spot casually; it was even announced while he was buying bread rolls at the bakery. While not expected to start, Führich could provide crucial support - as he demonstrated recently during games against France and the Netherlands.

Niclas Füllkrug: It was a shock when radio station 1Live, along with a video from Dortmund, confirmed Niclas Füllkrug's European Championship nomination instead of Mats Hummels. The German striker will be a key part of the team, having already secured his spot in the starting lineup.

Manuel Neuer: Unsurprisingly, the long-standing captain of the DFB is part of the squad. Although affected by a setback in the Champions League semi-final, Neuer will still be a key player at the European Championships.

Aleksandar Pavlovic: Fraulie Ludowig was up to something. At the end of her prime-time RTL broadcast on Monday night, this network presenter, who suddenly wore a football jersey, twisted around - she pushed her hair forward and revealed the "PAVLOVIC" insignia emblazoned on her back. Young Munich player Aleksandar Pavlovic is the fourth midfielder and has outshone Leon Goretzka in this position.

Jonathan Tah: Grandma Lotti was perplexed. "That's you!" cried out the 93-year-old as geriatric nurse Rashid Hamid handed her a cake in a pizza box with Tah's face on it. When Tah asked about the mysterious gift, the elder lady suggested that he should remove his beard. He might not look into shaving it until Bayer Leverkusen suffers another loss - that could take some time.

Nico Schlotterbeck: Boing! This is Deutsches Fernsehen, broadcasting the European Championship selection. The simultaneous announcement of Nico Schlotterbeck's nomination after a huge fire ravaged Warsaw on Sunday night sparked a guessing game. Schlotterbeck is the primary backup if there are any issues with the pairing of Antonio Rüdiger and Jonathan Tah.
