Recently, the actress Ruth Maria Kubitschek (1931-2024) passed away. She worked on her final film with Matthias Schweighöfer (43) before her death. In a recent interview, Schweighöfer commemorated his late colleague.

Kubitschek starred in the movie "Frau Ella," released in 2013, where she played an elderly woman searching for lost love. Schweighöfer starred as a young taxi driver who embarked on a special journey with her. The movie drew over a million viewers in theaters, and the two actors were often seen together in public, notably at the Berlin premiere in October 2013 and on the ZDF show "Wetten, dass..?" hand in hand. In an interview with Bild, Schweighöfer expressed his sentiments regarding Kubitschek's passing: "I cherish my time working with Ruth on 'Frau Ella' and remember her as a legendary actress."

A shared admiration

Ruth Maria Kubitschek had just retired when she received the offer for "Frau Ella." In an interview, she mentioned the challenging nature of the production due to her foot injury: "It was a difficult period, as my feet were extremely painful due to a dislocated joint. However, we were able to capture a convincing elderly look, which suited my character well. Matthias Schweighöfer's humor and friendliness were instrumental in this." The admiration was mutual. Schweighöfer acknowledged during the production, "I can't believe Ruth is in her 80s. To me, she's more like a peer, someone of my generation. It's incredible, how she can look 58 on the outside, while being so young at heart."

Longevity in the entertainment industry

Kubitschek boasted quite a lengthy career in the film and television industry, spanning 59 years. Her acting career began with the crime trilogy "Melissa." She appeared in comedies such as "Didi - The Doppelgänger" and "Otto - The Love Film" and in series like "Der Fall von nebenan" and "Männer sind was Wunderbares." Among numerous memorable roles, she will always be remembered as "Spatzl" in the hit series "Monaco Franze - The Eternal Stinker" (1983).

Ruth Maria Kubitschek, who also penned several books, was born on August 2, 1931, in Komotau (Czechoslovakia). She passed away on June 1, 2024, at the age of 92 in Switzerland. She is survived by her son (born 1957).
