New details about "The Canoe of Manitu" - This is currently known

Exactly 24 years after his major success "The Manitu's Shoe," popular comedian Michael "Bully" Herbig (56) will bring the sequel "The Canoe of Manitu" to German cinemas. The sequel was announced at the beginning of the year, and shortly after, the release date was revealed. Now, the first details about the plot of "Der Schuh des Manitu 2" are emerging. It is known so far that Bully will return as Abahachi.

The Return of "The Canoe of Manitu"

"We're thrilled to announce the return of 'Der Schuh des Manitu': Abahachi, Ranger, and Dimitri will be back on the big screen in 2025 with 'The Canoe of Manitu'!" read the first announcement of the much-anticipated sequel in January.

Shortly after, Constantin Film announced the release date for "The Canoe of Manitu." The second part of the Western parody will premiere in German cinemas on August 14, 2025 - right in the middle of summer holidays.

What's Happening in "Der Schuh des Manitu 2"

Although it was mentioned in the initial announcement of the project that the main characters Abahachi, Ranger, and Dimitri, played by "Bullyparade" stars Herbig, Christian Tramitz (69), and Rick Kavanian (53), would also be in part two, new details about the plot of "The Canoe of Manitu" have emerged thanks to a press release from the German Film Funding Agency.

According to this, Abahachi and Ranger fall into a trap set by a gang. The gangsters want to get their hands on the legendary "Canoe of Manitu." As a result, Ranger and Abahachi end up on the gallows, and they once again have to fear for their lives.

But just in the nick of time, the lovable Dimitri appears on the screen. He saves Abahachi and Ranger, but they soon realize that the events were only part of a larger plan, and their next great adventure is just beginning.

The Cast and Crew

Besides the previously mentioned leading actors Herbig, Tramitz, and Kavanian, it is not yet clear which actors and actresses from part one will return. Many fans would certainly welcome a reunion with Sky du Mont (77), who embodied the iconic villain Santa Maria in "Der Schuh des Manitu" and a roughly thirty-minute segment from "Bullyparade - Der Film" in 2017.

Whether du Mont will be part of the cast is currently uncertain. The return of other high-profile actors like Marie Bäumer (55) or Hilmi Sözer (54) from part one has not been officially confirmed yet.

Once again, Michael "Bully" Herbig will direct "The Canoe of Manitu." He will also be responsible for the screenplay along with Kavanian and Tramitz.
