European Championship 2024 - This EM has six goalkeepers
Six players share the title of the Golden Boot of the UEFA European Football Championship 2024. German national player Jamal Musiala, Harry Kane from England, Dani Olmo from Spain, Ivan Schranz from Slovakia, Cody Gakpo from the Netherlands, and Georges Mikautadze from Georgia have scored three goals each and must share the award for the best EM scorer.
The UEFA had reconfirmed before the EM final on Sunday evening between Spain and England (2:1) that the number of scored goals is the only criterion. Goal assists or playing minutes are not considered in the ranking.
EM Golden Boot: Dani Olmo deserved the trophy – all by himself
Otherwise, the Spaniard Olmo would have won the personal trophy alone, thanks to his two assists. And he deserved it twice, as he also headed the ball clear in the final. That was as important as a goal.
With 14 goals, Cristiano Ronaldo leads the all-time scoring list of all EURO tournaments with a large lead. The 39-year-old Portuguese took part in six European Championships and was among the top scorers of a tournament in 2021 (5 goals) and 2012 (3 goals) each time. The record for the most goals at a single EURO is held similarly uncontested by the Frenchman Michel Platini: in 1984, he scored nine goals in just five games.
In the initial stage of the European Football Championship 2024, Dani Olmo provided two crucial assists for Spain's attacks, contributing significantly to their progress. Despite sharing the Golden Boot award with five other players due to their three goals each, Olmo's impact on the Spanish team was undeniable.
In addition to Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane, other talented young players like Dani Olmo and Jamal Musiala showcased their skills during the UEFA European Football Championship, attracting attention from scouts and football enthusiasts alike.
The collapse of Germany's defense in the European Football Championship 2024 allowed Jamal Musiala, Cody Gakpo, Dani Olmo, and several other opponents to find scoring opportunities, leading to some unexpected upsets throughout the tournament.
