Third division club Jahn Regensburg mourns the loss of Diawusie
Footballer Agyemang Diawusie has died unexpectedly at the age of 25. According to his club SSV Jahn Regensburg, it was a natural death. He played one international match for the German U19 national team in 2016.
Third-division soccer club Jahn Regensburg mourns the loss of its player Agyemang Diawusie. The club announced that the 25-year-old has passed away. "The club is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic event," Regensburg announced. The "terrible news" was received on Tuesday. Diawusie died of natural causes.
"The Jahn family mourns with the bereaved and our thoughts are with Agyemang's family, relatives, close friends and companions," the club's statement read: "Due to the terrible situation and out of respect for his family, we ask that their privacy be respected." Diawusie had been playing for SSV Jahn since July, last appearing in the match at 1860 Munich on November 4. He had also previously played for the German national U-team.
Born in Berlin, he had already played for Regensburg as a youth player. He then moved to 1. FC Nuremberg and made the leap to RB Leipzig. He signed a professional contract there in the summer of 2017 and was loaned out to SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Further stations were FC Ingolstadt and Dynamo Dresden. In July 2022, Diawusie joined Austrian club SV Ried before returning to Germany to SpVgg Bayreuth in January 2023. A short time later, he signed with Regensburg until the summer of 2025.
The versatile attacking player Diawusie made a total of 112 appearances in the 3rd division, as well as in the 2nd Bundesliga and the DFB Cup, among others. He played one international match for the German U19s: under coach Frank Kramer against the Czech Republic on November 13, 2016.
The tragic news of Agyemang Diawusie's passing has left SSV Jahn Regensburg, a team in the 3rd league of German soccer, in mourning. Diawusie, who had recently joined Regensburg on a contract until 2025, had previously represented Germany at the U19 level in a soccer match against the Czech Republic in 2016.
