These are the quarter-final matches of the European Football Championship

The Round of 16 matches at the European Football Championship have been played. Last to qualify was Turkey against Austria for the quarterfinals. However, they face a tough challenge against the Netherlands. Germany also faces difficulties. Here's an overview of the matches:

Goalkeeper Mert Günok sealed the Austrian football team's elimination with a spectacular save deep in stoppage time on Tuesday evening, securing his team's place in the next round. They face the Netherlands on Saturday (9 pm). The Dutch team had little trouble with their opponent Romania before the Turkish surprise. Despite an absurd chance difference, they managed a 3:0 win.

In Berlin, roles should be clearly defined. The Dutch team, with their star squad, go into the match as clear favorites, but the atmosphere, even though their own fans will be present in large numbers and in high spirits with their Snollebollekes dance, will be decidedly against them. In the Olympiastadion, a huge fan wall in red and white could confront them. The German team had already gained experience playing against this passionate atmosphere in the autumn. In the lower bracket, England and Switzerland face off (Saturday, 6 pm).

The Swiss team had clearly defeated Italy and sent the title defenders into a deep hole. The German team, with their quick football, took a long time to secure their place in the next round. It's quite possible that the team led by Murat Yakin in Düsseldorf will be the next big surprise. Given their previous performances, both their own and those of their opponents England, they go into this match as favorites. The Three Lions are still in the tournament, but no one really knows why. They have a world star in Jude Bellingham, but that's not all there is to it. The team's football leaves fans divided, both for and against the team and the coach.

In the upper bracket, Germany faces the toughest task in the tournament. On Friday evening (6 pm), they take on Spain in Stuttgart. Spain has left their opponents dribbling and disoriented with their spectacular football and are considered the major tournament favorite due to their spectacular football and outstanding talents like Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams. Can the German team keep up? The question of how strong the German team really is remains open, as does their determination to fight against all obstacles and their strong desire to win the games for their own side.

Finally, the last match pits giants Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappé against each other, with Portugal and France facing off on Saturday (9 pm). Ronaldo's men had to endure a long wait against Slovenia, with the old superstar missing a penalty in the shootout. It wasn't until the final penalty that they were freed. Goalkeeper Diogo Costa saved all three penalties, a feat unheard of in EM history. Their opponents, France, eliminated Belgium in a tactical and therefore lengthy and exhausting match. The French team, so fast (little joke) on the move, like an ICE between Cologne and Dortmund, celebrates exuberantly, despite their pragmatic approach. They go into the match as favorites.

  1. Portugal's star player Cristiano Ronaldo will be tested against France's Kylian Mbappé at the European Football Championship 2024, as their national soccer teams face off on Saturday.
  2. Germany, currently facing difficulties, will need to step up their game against Spain's formidable squad led by Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams in the Round of 16 of the European Football Championship 2024.
  3. Despite having a world star in Jude Bellingham, England's national soccer team continues to divide football fans with their performance at the European Football Championship 2024, making their match against Switzerland's unexpectedly strong team an intriguing one.
