- These 11 top albums are coming out later this year.
The Music Year 2024 is far from over - it still has some albums in store. Some are eagerly awaited, others come as a surprise. Here are some albums to look forward to:
- Post Malone
Hip-Hop, R&B, Rock, Pop, or Country? The US singer cannot be pinned down to a single genre. However, his sixth album "F-1 Trillion" (16 August) features surprising influences from the country scene in its eighteen tracks. Giants like Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Chris Stapleton, and Hank Williams Jr. contributed to the songs. In contrast, his last album ("Austin", 2023) did not feature any guests.
- Sabrina Carpenter
With a gold album and multiple platinum singles under her belt, it's no surprise that Sabrina Carpenter's debut single "Espresso" from her new album "Short n' Sweet" (23 August) became a global number-one hit. The new album is said to be inspired by relationships and love. Accordingly, she has already released a second song and video: "Please, Please, Please" revolves around an escape from prison - and a love story.
- Katy Perry
After a four-year hiatus, the "I Kissed A Girl" chart-topper returns with new music. The title of her new work "143" (20 September) is said to be a coded love message, with the number sequence representing the letter count of the English words "I" (1) love (4) you (3). In the early 1990s, lovers often used this number combination to send a love message via pager. The singer wants to convey a "continuous message of love" with this title, as announced by the label Capitol Records. Fans can expect a "bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album", it was further stated.
- Paris Hilton
Nearly two decades after "Paris", the US reality star makes a musical comeback. For her new album "Infinite Icon" (6 September), Paris Hilton has teamed up with singer and producer Sia. Also, singer Meghan Trainor ("All About That Bass") made it onto the album with "Chasin". "This song is a reminder to stop chasing someone who never deserved you," the 43-year-old Hilton writes about the collaborative song.
- David Garrett
For his new album "Millennium Symphony" (18 October), the New York-based violinist has drawn on the "most thrilling hits of the last 25 years", as announced ahead of the release. From Harry Styles to Taylor Swift and Beyoncé - the album announcement promises a symphonic reinterpretation that will appeal to various fan bases. Garrett's version of Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" gives a taste of this stylistic fusion.
- Max Richter
After a decades-long career, the globally celebrated composer finally announced the dates of his first world tour with the announcement of "In A Landscape" (6 September). Richter, known for seamlessly blending traditional orchestration with modern electronic elements, wants to unite polarities in his new work, as announced. "The electronics with the acoustic instruments, the natural world with the human world, and the big ideas of life with the personal and intimate."
- Die Fantastischen Vier
After a six-year wait, fans can finally look forward to a new album from "Fantastic 4". It might be the last one. The band's eleventh album, "Long Player" (October 4th), was already announced last year, along with the pre-sale for their upcoming arena tour starting shortly after its release. "I can't foresee if there will be another one after this," Thomas D. recently said in an interview with the "Badische Neueste Nachrichten" newspaper.
8. Max Herre and Joy Denalane
After 25 years together, the couple is releasing their first joint album - "Alles Liebe" (November 1st). Their first collaboration, "Mit Dir", came out in 2004. This time around, they're exploring many different feelings, both old and new. "There are countless forms of love. Ours is one of them - and this album is our perspective on it," Herre said. They plan to go on tour together a few weeks after the album's release.
9. Coldplay
Coldplay is committed to sustainability. Three years after releasing "Music of the Spheres", which topped the UK charts, the band has been working to reduce their tour's carbon footprint. Their tenth album, "Music of the Spheres II" (October 4th), will be made from recycled plastic bottles, aiming to make a lasting, eco-friendly impact.
10. Kerstin Ott
Kerstin Ott's fifth album, "Farben" (October 18th), celebrates life in all its colors. The title track, "Für immer für dich", is an emotional story of a deep, lifelong bond that invites listeners to celebrate. Ott revealed that she dedicated the song, which begins with "Für dich ist mir kein Weg zu weit", to her wife, with whom she's been married since 2017.
11. Die Nerven
Contrary to what the title might suggest, "Wir waren hier" (September 13th) is not the last album from the Stuttgart trio. "It's the first album that doesn't feel like it could be our last," the band said before its release. Four singles are already out, tackling themes like environmental pollution and reckless consumption.
- I've always wanted to visit Paris, the city of love and art.
- Despite being known for her reality TV fame, Paris Hilton's musical comeback with "Infinite Icon" is gaining attention in the music industry.
