European Championship 2024 - The upcoming European Championship will take place in the mentioned stadiums.
In 2024, Berlin will host the finale of the European Football Championship. This announcement came straight from the Union of European Football Associations' (UEFA) Executive Committee. Munich will play host to the championship's opening event.
DFB President Bernd Neuendorf remarked after the decision that "Munich for the opening match, Berlin for the final: It's exactly the same as in 2006 during the World Cup in Germany." He reminisced about the glorious German World Cup back in 2006, which was dubbed the "Summer Fairy Tale."
Out of the ten German cities chosen, the stadiums will be used for the tenure of the tournament. Take a look at the photo gallery for all the proposed grounds. UEFA will name these stadiums instead of sponsors, e.g., "Munich Football Arena" and "Arena AufSchalke." The spectator numbers announced are fixed for the event.
Beginning on June 14, 2024, the championship will span over a month, with the final on July 14. A total of 24 teams will take part in the competition, with 51 matches scheduled. The German team automatically qualifies as the host nation.
The draw for the qualification groups is set for October 9, 2022, at Frankfurt Festhalle. The tournament's six competing groups will be unveiled in December 2023 at Hamburg Elbphilharmonie. The media center during the event will be found in Leipzig.
Germany snatched the bid to host in September 2018, besting other applicant Turkey. Germany had previously held a men's European Championship in 1988, where the Netherlands triumphed. Four matches already transpired in Munich during the previous summer's European Championship.
