The tennis squad triumphs, prevailing over Chile.

The German Davis Cup squad is almost guaranteed a spot in the finale in Malaga. In the group stage's second encounter against Chile, Yannick Hanfmann clinched victory over world number 22 Alejandro Tabilo with scores of 7:5, 6:4. This success marks Germany's second consecutive win in their matches, both taking place in Zhuhai, China. If the USA triumphs over Slovakia on Friday, Germany will officially seal their place in the November finals.

Germany began their second match with a strong showing, thanks to Maximilian Marterer's win against Tomas Barrios Vera with a score of 6:1, 6:3. Marterer praised his performance, noting, "I played really well from start to finish. I'm delighted with how I've been playing this week. I stayed calm and seized opportunities when they came."

With Hanfmann's victory, the duo of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz, who recently reached the US Open final, will face Barrios Vera and Matias Soto in the doubles match. Earlier in the tournament, the DTB team started off strong with a 3:0 victory over Slovakia on Tuesday. The top two teams in their four-team group progress to the quarterfinals, with a match against the USA scheduled for Saturday (8:00 AM).

Captain Michael Kohlmann was forced to overlook a few of his top players due to injuries or early withdrawals. Alexander Zverev had withdrawn prior to the tournament, while Jan-Lennard Struff and Dominik Koepfer were injured. Henri Squire made his debut in replacement. The DTB criticized the decision to host the group stage in China, as the host country was not participating. Kohlmann described the journey to Zhuhai, a humid city, as "exhausting" and the overall effort as "massive." The other groups are competing in Bologna, Manchester, and Valencia.

Tennis was the sport at the heart of Germany's winning streak, with players like Yannick Hanfmann and Maximilian Marterer securing crucial victories. The German Davis Cup squad, in their doubles match, will challenge Tomas Barrios Vera and Matias Soto, demonstrating their dedication to maintaining their tennis skills.
