Ulrike Frank - the separation of her 'GZSZ' role is tragic

For Ulrike Frank (55), Katrin Flemming's role in "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" begins a new chapter: She has separated from her TV lover Tobias (Jan Kittmann, 41). "It's tragic that two people who truly love each other can't find a way to live out that love," comments the actress about the love triangle in an interview with RTL.

Reconciliation off the table?

Fans of the series who follow the love triangle would surely be pleased with a comeback. About this, the Berliner actress says: "Despite all the hurt, Katrin still loves Tobias. He's missing from her life. They had wonderful times together, where they met as strong partners. A love comeback only makes sense if Tobias realizes that a Katrin Flemming has her own opinion and can assert it and wants it."

Instead, the actress talks about the future of her single role: "Katrin needs to take some time to emotionally recover first. Luckily, she has Maren, a great best friend, who gives her support. Gerner, her eternal partner in crime, is also there for her, and even Emily shows empathy. But it's tough in collaboration, which leads to irritations, because Katrin throws herself fully into her work to overcome her heartbreak."

She has played the role of Katrin for 22 years, and now she says: "I like Katrin as a single woman. She's fundamentally a self-confident, quick-witted, independent woman. Once she has processed the separation, we might be able to expect some exciting encounters, refreshing exchanges, and dry comments from her again."

Personal Happiness

Personally, the 55-year-old can no longer imagine a life without her partner. She has been married to composer Marc Schubring for 25 years. "No matter what happens, we accept each other, share joys and sorrows, fear no challenges, approach each other attentively and trustingly, take part, remain curious, and make sure the humor doesn't disappear - with Marc having a birthright advantage as a Berliner," she muses about her marital secret.

They enjoy life together, according to Frank, "can also be good alone, admire and appreciate each other." But above all, there is love. "Unconditionally, with all its quirks, strengths and weaknesses, full of liveliness, honesty, and gratitude, we love each other," Frank gushes.

"Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" airs Mondays through Fridays at 19:40 p.m. on RTL and a week in advance on RTL+.
