- The security team of Prince Andrew chose toparts ways with him.
Andy, 64, recently had his personal security serviced privately funded by Charlie, 75, after losing publicly funded police protection following his step down from royal obligations in 2022. Recent news suggests that Charlie may be planning to terminate Andy's security team. As reported by "The Sun on Sunday", the security personnel have been informed that their services will no longer be required starting November.
Sources from "Mail Online" also suggest that this could mean "the Duke must vacate the royal lodge". An insider stated, "It could potentially mean that." Charlie and Andy are reportedly spending the weekend together at Balmoral estate in Scotland.
Potential relocation from Royal Lodge to Frogmore Cottage
After the release of extensive court documents pertaining to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, Andy has been under immense pressure. Early this year, it was reported that Andrew turned down an offering to move from Royal Lodge to Frogmore Cottage which is situated nearby.
Since 2003, Andy signed a 75-year lease for the manor house. In January, it was reported that if Andy wished to continue residing in the 30-room mansion in Windsor Great Park, he would be responsible for the multi-million pound security expenses.
Epstein scandal: Andy's name appears in legal documents over 70 times
Reports indicate that Andy's name appeared over 70 times in legal documents related to Jeffrey Epstein's sexual abuse scandal. Despite this, the Metropolitan Police at the time declared that no new investigations were initiated. Andy adamantly denied the allegations and settled a civil case with Virginia Giuffre, 41, for a large sum in 2022.
In May 2020, Andy opted to step down from his royal tasks. In January 2022, Andy renounced his titles and patronages and is no longer addressed as "His Royal Highness".
The Royal Family has been facing scrutiny due to Andy's involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, with his name appearing over 70 times in related legal documents. Despite this, Andy has had to bear the expense of securing his residence at Royal Lodge, as the lease he signed in 2003 requires him to cover the significant security costs.
