The Premier League's debut was marred by a severe mishap.

Early into the clash between Nottingham Forest and AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League, an upsetting event unfolds: Forest's player Danilo suffers a gruesome injury. His ankle gets hurt badly.

In the 7th minute, as Danilo battled with Bournemouth's striker Antoine Semenyo, an unfortunate incident saw Danilo land awkwardly, putting an unusual strain on his ankle. His foot took an unnatural position as a result.

The referee and his assistants quickly summoned medical aid upon noticing Danilo's predicament. Several players looked on in horror or covered their faces in disbelief.

Medical personnel created a barrier around Danilo as they treated him for around six minutes. The 23-year-old was then carried off the field with applause ringing out from both sets of fans. Semenyo, who too received brief medical attention, continued playing - which wasn't great news for Forest as they conceded an equalizer in the 86th minute through Semenyo himself. Chris Wood had given Forest the lead in the 23rd minute.

Nottingham's manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, spoke to Sky News, expressing his shock at the situation: "It was a terrible moment for everyone, it's extremely serious." He confirmed that Danilo had indeed broken his ankle. "We'll miss him, not just on the pitch, he's a terrific lad." A definitive diagnosis is yet to be made. "It's never pleasant to see a teammate suffer such a fall on the field," shared teammate Chris Wood with BBC Radio 5 Live. He offered his unwavering support to Danilo, assuring him that he'd bounce back stronger.

Despite the injury forcing Danilo to miss out on future soccer matches, his teammates and fans rallied around him with their support. The absence of the young defender was definitely felt in Forest's subsequent soccer games.
