Country's athletic squad - The official anthem for Germany's national soccer team, titled "Major Tom," is unveiled.

The iconic '80s song "Major Tom" has now been chosen as the anthem for the German national football teams. Kai Havertz, a national player, expressed his excitement in a public Instagram video, saying, "This is really cool. Amazing. I'm pumped!"

Alexandra Popp also shared her excitement by adding, "How crazy is that?!" This song by Peter Schilling has been gaining attention from German fans in the past few weeks.

For the men's team, they are set to hear this song after scoring goals in the upcoming test matches against Ukraine (Monday in Nuremburg) and Greece (Friday in Mönchengladbach). However, this won't be happening during the European Championship, as UEFA sets the goal music for the tournament (June 14th to July 14th). The women's team will play on June 4th in the EM qualification in Poland.

The song was first played after a goal during the March test match against the Netherlands (2-1), when Maximilian Mittelstädt scored his first goal. The refrain of the 1982 song talks about the spaceship floating weightlessly and completely detached from the earth.
