The cat is out of the bag: The successors of the departing Frankfurter "Tatort" team have been found. Melika Foroutan (48) and Edin Hasanovic (32) will in the future investigate crimes for Hessian Broadcasting in Frankfurt. This was announced by the responsible production company Sommerhaus on Thursday afternoon. They will take over from the departing commissioners Brix and Janneke, alias Wolfram Koch (62) and Margarita Broich (64), who are expected to appear together in front of the camera for the popular Sunday evening crime series for the last time at the end of 2023.

According to the announcement, the new commissioners will focus on Cold Cases, unsolved murder cases, and criminal offenses from the past. With this, Hessian Broadcasting wants to "enter new territory within its 'Tatort' format" again. Hasanovic is thrilled about his new role with his "wonderful" colleague. She was already one of his first colleagues during his early acting days. For him, therefore, a circle is closing. In general, he finds police investigations into old, unsolved criminal cases fascinating: "This special concept has convinced me from the beginning!"

When does the last Janneke-and-Brix case air? When does the first new one?

Foroutan, besides her "wonderful" colleague Hasanovic, particularly emphasizes Frankfurt as something special: "The city stands out for its cultural and social diversity and offers exciting shooting locations, before whose backgrounds we will deal with unsolved crimes." The actress born in Teheran gained fame through her role in the ZDF series "KDD - Criminal Duty." In the Emmy-winning Netflix series "The Empress," Foroutan played the role of Erzherzogin Sophie.

Edin Hasanovic gained fame through the Netflix series "Skylines" and has been one of the most famous faces of young German cinema for years. He was also seen in the four-Oscar-winning war drama "All Quiet on the Western Front." In addition, the actor is also the host of his own Late-Night-Show "Edin's Neo Night" on ZDFneo.

By the way: The last Brix-and-Janneke case with the title "It's so green when Frankfurt's mountains bloom" is already finished and is expected to still air this year. It will be their 19th case since their debut in May 2015. When the first "Tatort" with Foroutan and Hasanovic airs, is still not clear, most likely, however, already in the first half of 2025. The start of filming for the first new Frankfurt crime series is in the fall of 2024.

  1. Melika Foroutan and Edin Hasanović, the new commissioners for Hessian Broadcasting's "Tatort" in Frankfurt, are excited about their roles, with Foroutan highlighting the city's cultural diversity as a draw.
  2. The successors to Wolfram Koch and Margarita Broich, who are preparing for their final appearance in the popular crime series at the end of 2023, will focus on Cold Cases and criminal offenses from the past.
  3. According to Sommerhaus' announcement, the new commissioners, Foroutan and Hasanovic, will bring a fresh perspective to Hessian Broadcasting's "Tatort" format, delving into uncharted territory.
  4. Hasanović, who first worked with Foroutan during his early acting days, expresses enthusiasm for this new role, finding the concept of investigating old, unsolved crimes fascinating.
  5. Edin Hasanovic, known for his roles in Netflix's "Skylines" and "The Empress," will co-star with Foroutan in the upcoming Frankfurt-based "Tatort" series, set to premiere in the first half of 2025.
  6. Foroutan has gained fame through roles in the ZDF series "KDD - Criminal Duty" and Netflix's "The Empress," while Hasanovic is also the host of "Edin's Neo Night" on ZDFneo.
