- The Muffin Man of the Olympic Village: How Henrik Christiansen became a star

Henrik Christiansen is actually supposed to be competing in swimming at the Olympic Games. However, if you look at his TikTok account, it seems he's been doing one thing in particular in Paris: eating muffins.

The baked goods are available for free to athletes in the Olympic Village. Christiansen certainly seems to enjoy the sweet treats, as almost every video he's posted from the Olympic Village has been about muffins.

Olympics: Henrik Christiansen Showcases His Muffin Love

In one clip, he's seemingly caught hiding muffins in his nightstand, and in the next, he's apologizing to a muffin – though it seems forced, as he's later seen tied up and gagged, as if the muffin is his captor. He's regularly seen with chocolate around his mouth.

The clips went viral, with other athletes now posting about the sweets too. Some have said they've finally seen the famous muffins but don't want to steal them from the Norwegian swimmer. Other videos show athletes seemingly 'stealing' the baked goods from the table or proudly holding up a muffin they've managed to get.

Viral Videos Didn't Bring Luck

Christiansen's content is popular among TikTok users. Some say they don't even know what sport he's competing in but love him anyway. Some even joke about him getting a muffin-shaped medal.

However, Christiansen's muffin consumption didn't bring him luck: he failed to qualify for the 1500m final on Saturday.

Despite his love for muffins, which are highly palatable with a significant fat content by weight, Henrik Christiansen fell short in qualifying for the 1500m final.

The athlete's fondness for the baked goods, available for free in the Olympic Village, has inspired other athletes to join in, with some hesitant to take muffins from Christiansen's collection, considering it of symbolic value to the Norwegian swimmer.
