Playing Basketball - The Mavs' comeback effort falls short as the Celtics near winning the NBA championship.

The Boston Celtics are only a single win away from clinching their 18th NBA championship, which would make them the all-time leaders in the league. Following their 106-99 win in Texas, they are now up 3-0 in the series.

Unfortunately for the Dallas Mavericks, their chances of winning a second title since Dirk Nowitzki's championship in 2011 appear slim. No team has ever managed to come back from a 0-3 deficit in the playoffs. Only the Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers currently hold 17 titles in the NBA.

"This was a huge win," said Jaylen Brown, one of the Celtics' stars, after the game. "I'm proud of how we played today. In the third quarter, we had some amazing moments." Looking ahead to Saturday night's game four in Dallas, he added, "We just need to stay focused and composed."

Sixth Foul Leads to Elimination

The Mavericks, with stars Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and Maxi Kleber, had an early 13-point lead over the fans before things quickly took a turn for the worse. They found themselves down by 21 points in the closing stages, but Doncic and Irving led an incredible 20-2 run that brought the team within 90-93 of the Celtics.

However, Doncic was then called for his sixth foul with a debatable block, forcing him to sit out the rest of the game. Irving reduced the lead to one point with a score of 92-93, but it wasn't enough to tie the game or take the lead.

Doncic remained upbeat after the game: "That's just how basketball goes."

"We almost came back from a 21-point deficit. We won't give up now, either," Doncic said. "That's just how basketball goes. They had their run, but we stayed in the game and made our shots at the crucial moments," added Brown.

Doncic finished the night with 27 points, six assists, and six rebounds. Irving scored 35 points and played his best game of the finals. Kleber only saw eight minutes of playing time and missed all three of his shot attempts.

In the Celtics' lineup, Jayson Tatum and Brown had another stellar performance. Tatum scored 31 points, while Brown added 30 points to the team's tally. The Celtics were missing the injured performance leader Kristaps Porzingis, who had made a significant contribution to their victories in the first two games of the final series in Boston.
