This former undefeated UFC champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, seems to be running into issues with the Kremlin. He's said to owe 306 million roubles, which translates to an estimated 3.3 million dollars in unpaid taxes. As a result, his personal and business accounts have been frozen in Russia, as revealed by Mash Media and RT.
The 35-year-old reportedly accumulated this tax debt after his retirement from MMA in 2020. The reports suggest that he transferred ownership of his companies to relatives and business partners, and the tax authorities have since discovered inconsistencies in the closing documents for these businesses. It's believed that Nurmagomedov employed the accumulated tax proceeds to purchase hotels and start-ups in the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
The frozen accounts not only affect his personal finances but also his charitable initiatives and his promotion company, Eagle FC. Nurmagomedov established Eagle FC in 2020 after purchasing Gorilla Fighting Champions for a million dollars. In 2022, he held his first event in the USA under this banner, which was followed by no further Eagle FC events since November 2023.
