Semi-finals - The Killers show England victory - and then cause full fan ecstasy

The semifinal match between England and the Netherlands was a nail-biter on a Wednesday evening. The knockout game was a head-to-head race until just before the end, when Ollie Watkins, who had been substituted, rescued the Three Lions and their fans with the winning goal. Hundreds of kilometers away in Dortmund, The Killers were performing a concert in London.

As numerous videos on X, formerly Twitter, show, the concertgoers didn't have to miss the game. The band showed the last minutes of the match, during which the English national team fought for a place in the final. The fans of the Rockband watched intently on a large screen. When Watkins' shot secured the EM-Final place, they cheered loudly – and the Killers added to it.

Without delay, they launched their biggest hit, "Mr. Brightside", in response to the jubilation of their and England's fans. The first notes of the worldwide hit were so recognizable that everyone in the hall knew what was coming next. The result: Complete ecstasy. Although "Mr. Brightside" originally deals with separation and hurt feelings, it has become one of the sing-along and party anthems in recent years.

"Today we played for England," the band wrote on X after the concert. "It was absolutely brilliant. And football was a bonus, and 'Mr. Brightside' was the madness," an excited fan wrote.

The English fans will have to tense up again on Sunday. They face Spain in the EM-Final in Berlin. And the Killers? They play the last concert of their Europe tour on Saturday – coincidentally in Madrid.

Ollie Watkins' winning goal during the semifinal match between England and the Netherlands was a highlight that even reached The Killers' concert in Dortmund. Despite being hundreds of kilometers away, fans watched the final minutes of the game on a large screen, cheering loudly as Watkins secured England's place in the EM-Final.

After the goal, The Killers responded with their popular hit "Mr. Brightside," which resonated with the jubilant crowd, despite the song's original theme of separation and hurt feelings.
