The James family is on the verge of making NBA history

On the last meters of his great career, LeBron James could still have a dream come true. He could stand together with his son on the court in the next NBA season. This has never happened before in the best league in the world.

For basketball superstar LeBron James, a dream could come true in the upcoming NBA season. In the second round of the NBA Draft, his 19-year-old son Bronny James was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 55th spot and could potentially play alongside his 39-year-old father. "Legacy," LeBron wrote in capital letters on Instagram and posted a photo of him and his son from childhood.

"That's a historic moment," said Lakers legend Magic Johnson. Guard Bronny James collapsed due to a heart attack in July of the previous year and was subsequently hospitalized. A few days later, he was discharged from the hospital, and an innate heart defect was diagnosed. He made his comeback in college basketball in December and averaged 4.8 points per game in his underwhelming rookie season.

"In NBA history, there has never been a father and a son who have shared an NBA basketball court," said Lakers executive Rob Pelinka: "It feels like something that could be magical." While LeBron plays for the USA in the Olympics in Paris during the summer, son Bronny must earn a spot on the final roster through the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. His drafting in the second round was considered unlikely beforehand.

German basketball player Ariel Hukporti was drafted last by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round at position 58, but a trade to the New York Knicks for Isaiah Hartenstein was quickly completed. The center, born in Stralsund, most recently played in Australia for Melbourne United and averaged 8.4 points in 28 games. In the first round, another German player, Tristan Da Silva, had already been drafted.

LeBron James's son, Bronny, getting drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA gives them the opportunity to share the basketball court, a feat that has never been achieved in the NBA's history. With Bronny's impressive performance in college basketball and his father's exceptional skills in basketball, the Los Angeles Lakers' upcoming NBA season promises to be filled with excitement and potential history.
