The Giants aren't facing the same brutal defeat this time around.
Once again this football season, the New York Giants failed to score a touchdown of their own and lost, making it their third defeat. In spite of leading in various statistics, they were outmatched by their frenemies, the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys managed to triumph in the National Football League (NFL), beating the Giants 20-15 for the second time in a row. Quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb led the charge, with Prescott tossing for 221 yards and two touchdowns, one of which went to Lamb for a total of 98 yards through seven catches.
The turning point of the game was the Cowboys' defense, which filled the gap left by the Giants' offensive line, limiting them to only 26 rushing yards on 24 tries. This marked a vast improvement from their earlier 186 yards conceded in the opening three games.
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones struggled to find a way into the end zone despite the team's statistical superiority, leading in categories such as first downs, passing yards, and total yards. In the second half, the Giants launched a near-100-yard drive covering 77 yards in 11 plays, but opted for a field goal instead of attempting a touchdown on fourth down, placing them just 3 yards from the Cowboys' goal line.
No Upset This Time
The Giants' scoreboard was graced with only field goals, thanks to kicker Greg Joseph's personal-best of five successful kicks. However, they fell short of overcoming their opponents. In the final drive, Jones threw an interception; the nail in the Giants' coffin, sealing their third loss of the season and their second game without a touchdown.
Analyzing the statistics, the Giants didn't have much to hope for against the Cowboys' struggling defense. The 15-20 scoreline marked their seventh consecutive defeat against the Cowboys, with a whopping 14 out of the previous 15 matches ending in losses. On a positive note, they at least put up a fight this time around, unlike during the previous season when they suffered heavy defeats of 17-49 and 0-40.
The Cowboys celebrated their victory in the NFL, adding another win over their rivals, the Giants. Despite the Giants leading in several statistical categories, they failed to score a touchdown in the NFL (NFL) game, resulting in a 15-20 loss, their second defeat without a touchdown this season.
