Seven years ago, British indie band The Maccabees bid farewell to their fans with a few farewell concerts. Last August, former Maccabees Felix White and Hugo White, along with their younger brother Will White and former Noisettes drummer Jamie Morrison, presented their new band, 86TVs, after a long musical hiatus. Now, the debut album of 86TVs is set to release.

"Figuring out what the band stands for"

"In the five years since The Maccabees, we've had a lot on our plates," Will White, who also played with The Maccabees, told Rolling Stone magazine. "But it also took time to figure out what this new band stands for. It's important to take the time to figure out who you are, even though we're still doing that. It was definitely a long development process, but we wanted to make music that we can fully stand behind."

The London-based quartet serves up a mix of arena-ready rock with classic British indie influences and American touches on their debut album. The first single released last year, "Worn Out Buildings," is one of the standout tracks among the 14 songs that create vivid mental images with their atmosphere and sonic details.

The rockiest track is "Someone Else's Dream." Felix White says it takes him back to the time when his passion for music began, naming XTC, The Clash, and The Beatles as major influences. "It has the spirit of what we felt about that music back then, and - if I think about it - what we still feel today."

From big halls back to clubs

After The Maccabees played in larger venues, 86TVs is kicking off their first tour in clubs and smaller locations. "In that sense, it feels like a fresh start," Felix White told Rolling Stone. "It's fun because it feels nostalgic and you're experiencing it all again. When the venues get bigger, it's easy to forget what a concert is really about."

Kicking off their fall tour, 86TVs will play two Germany concerts in November, in Wangels, Schleswig-Holstein, and Berlin. Then, the White brothers aim to win over a new audience with their new band. "For us, it's like a boxing match," says Felix White. "You've got to go in there and win. When everyone's in a small room together, there's a unique energy, and that's what we've got to capture."

The new band, 86TVs, consists of members from both The Maccabees and Noisettes, hailing originally from The United Kingdom. The tour for 86TVs' debut album will see them playing in smaller venues and clubs, returning to their roots after their previous band's success in larger halls.
