- The first trailer brings Harrison Ford into the MCU
Marvel Studios have released the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated fourth "Captain America" film with the subtitle "Brave New World." The clip features main actor Anthony Mackie (45), known for taking Captain America's Vibranium shield from Chris Evans (43) as Steve Rogers in "Avengers: Endgame" (2019). The story was continued in the streaming series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" in 2021. Now, Mackie's new Captain America returns to the big screen.
What's happening in "Captain America: Brave New World"
The under two-minute preview video for the fourth "Captain America" film shows Wilson meeting US President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, played by Harrison Ford (81), who took over this MCU role from the late William Hurt (1950-2022).
According to the official plot description, Sam finds himself in the midst of an international crisis. He must uncover a global conspiracy before a hidden puppet master plunges the world into chaos.
The newly released first trailer for "Captain America: Brave New World" also shows a series of action scenes. An overpowered assassin, seemingly with superpowers, attempts to assassinate Ford's President Ross in the White House. Later, a aircraft carrier burns, and the White House is attacked and heavily damaged.
"No Aliens, No Time Travel"
"Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" star Giancarlo Esposito (66) is also seen in the new Marvel trailer. According to "Hollywood Reporter," he plays a mysterious villain. In addition, Shira Haas (29), known from the Netflix series "Unorthodox," and Danny Ramirez (31), who was previously seen in "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," appear in "Captain America 4." Liv Tyler (47) and Tim Blake Nelson (60) reprise their roles from "The Incredible Hulk" (2008), the second MCU film.
Julius Onah ("The Cloverfield Paradox," 41) directs "Captain America: Brave New World" based on a script by Malcolm Spellman ("The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" series creator) and Dalan Musson (writer for "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier").
Marvel Studios have described the new title as a political thriller and a "relatively grounded action film," reminiscent of the second "Captain America" film "The Winter Soldier" (2014). At the annual CinemaCon, Marvel chief Kevin Feige (51) promised "no Aliens, no invasions by aliens, no time travel" for the film.
