On September 15, Prince Harry turns 40. The younger brother of the British heir apparent, Prince William (42), and son of King Charles III (75), is set to receive a new ARD documentary series titled "Harry - The Fateful Years of a Prince" for the occasion. The three-part series will be available on the ARD media library from September 9, with a one-hour version airing on the First channel at 8:15 PM on September 16.

Prince Harry: From His Childhood to His Marriage

The series aims to explore "the coming-of-age story of the royal rebel," according to a press release. The ARD asks questions like, "Who is the man who turned his back on the most famous family in the world? Who is the 'black sheep' of the Windsors?" The roughly 25-minute episodes will cover topics such as Harry's childhood, his adolescence, his military service, his rift with the family, and his marriage to Duchess Meghan (42). The couple has been married since 2018 and lives with their children, Archie (5) and Lilibet (3), in California.

The series will also touch on topics such as the failed marriage of his father, Charles, to his mother, Princess Diana (1961-1997), whose tragic death in a car crash made headlines during Harry's teenage years, his decision to step back from royal duties with Meghan, and his memoir "Spare," in which he criticized the royal family.

Royal Fateful Years

The author and director of "Harry - The Fateful Years of a Prince" is Claire Walding, who also worked on "Charles - The Fateful Years of a King" and "The Queen - The Fateful Years of a Queen." The new documentary series will include footage and photos from the most important moments in Prince Harry's life, as well as interviews with royal experts Leontine von Schmettow and Tessa Dunlop, historian Ed Owens, and Annette Dittert, ARD's London correspondent.

This documentary series, titled "Harry - The Fateful Years of a Prince," delves into the life of Prince Harry, the son of King Charles III. The series will provide insights into his complex relationship with his family, including his father's failed marriage to Princess Diana.

King Charles III, the grandfather of Archie and Lilibet, plays a significant role in the series due to his own fateful years as a prince and, later, as the heir to the British throne.
