Track and field events - The defending champion, Weber, competes in the European Championship javelin final following a close conclusion.

Julian Weber, a top Spear Throw athlete from Mainz, doesn't let his shaky start hinder him from going for another European Championship medal. In his third and final attempt in the qualification round, the 29-year-old managed to surpass the required distance of 82.00 meters, with a throw of 85.01 meters and claiming the top spot. His first two attempts had been much shorter.

The big moment for Weber is set to happen on Wednesday at the European Athletics Championships. It was here that he bagged his greatest achievement yet, a gold medal, two years ago in Munich.

Another young talent, Max Dehning from Leverkusen, is also making his way to the final. He threw 80.52 meters in the qualification round and grabbed the last remaining spot for advancement. In February, Dehning created a stir when he managed to throw beyond the 90-meter mark.
