"The Challenger, named 'Silver Ball', unleashes its shots"
In the 37th America's Cup Challenger Series, the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team from Italy is in the driving seat. After three intense racing days, they remain undefeated, having bested both NYYC American Magic and Ineos Britannia. The two latter teams have managed to secure two victories each, placing them second and third respectively.
With a solid three points, the Luna Rossa team, led by Patrizio Bertelli, will continue their quest for the America's Cup on the 8th of September. Founded in 1998, this isn't their first rodeo, with the red moon-named yacht previously earning the nickname "Silver Bullet" due to its speed and fantastic initial performances. The Italian team's prowess extends beyond their fast boat, displaying robust sailing skills that leave them unfazed by light wind challenges in Barcelona.
France's Orient Express Racing Team has snagged a win, but the Swiss team Alinghi Red Bull Racing is yet to find the treasure chest – they've drawn a blank so far, having finished rock-bottom in the Louis Vuitton Cup preliminary round. Each team faces off against each other twice in this round, with the first one eliminated from the Louis Vuitton Cup semi-final contention on the 8th of September. Unfortunately, the races of the "Taihoro" yacht from New Zealand, which managed to rise again after a crane mishap, will not contribute to the Challenger Series score.
On the day prior, the "Taihoro" yacht slipped six meters down into its cradle during a lift attempt, causing some significant damage. Team CEO Grant Dalton was quick to express gratitude for the misfortune, saying, "We were lucky that the boat sank into the cradle. The crew managed to cut out a piece of the boat that resembles the Titanic. They've already started on the repairs as of this morning."
The Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team's success in water sports extends beyond sailing, as their speed and skill have also made them formidable in various other aquatic activities. After the repair of the "Taihoro" yacht, the New Zealand team might join in the fun, showcasing their prowess in water sports as well.
