Deadpool and Wolverine - The biggest Cameo appearances in the Marvel hit
Since July 24th, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds, 47) has made the cinema uncertain once again with his superhero antics in "Deadpool & Wolverine." In this installment, he's not alone in his endeavors as Hugh Jackman (55) has also agreed to don the Marvel Spandex once more as Wolverine. For their first joint outing into the MCU, these two received assistance from countless former comic book film heroes - even Superman makes a brief appearance from the DC Universe!
Warning: Massive Spoilers for Surprise Appearances
"Deadpool 2" already featured a mini-Cameo from Brad Pitt (60), which ended in an electric wire. "Deadpool & Wolverine" takes things a step further in every way.
A particularly humorous moment occurs when Deadpool searches through various parallel universes to find the right Wolverine variant and encounters an unexpected Superman. Surprisingly, in one of these alternate realities, Jackman has replaced Henry Cavill (41) as Wolverine, appearing as "Cavillrine" in a white undershirt and holding a cigar.
Vampire Hunter and Human Torch
Marvel fans can celebrate the surprise appearance of Chris Evans (43), aka Captain America. Deadpool, of course, takes note of Evans' early acting days when he portrayed a member of the "Fantastic Four" - Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch. When Evans shouts "Flame on!", Deadpool is not the only one taken aback.
Jennifer Garner (52) receives a chance at redemption. She previously played Elektra in the critically panned "Daredevil" and its spin-off, alongside her ex-husband Ben Affleck (51). Nearly 20 years have passed since she last portrayed the character.
Wesley Snipes (61) leaves a lasting impression with a brief appearance as Blade, the vampire hunter. However, Mahershala Ali (50) is set to take on the role in the upcoming MCU film about the Vampire killer, leaving Snipes' Cameo appearance less than thrilling.
Channing Tatum (44) surprises Marvel fans with a cameo as Gambit, a character he's reportedly longed to play since he was a child. Despite his efforts, a solo film never materialized, but thanks to "Deadpool & Wolverine," he finally gets to slip into the role.
Fans of the gritty film "Logan - The Wolverine," in which Jackman bid farewell to Wolverine in 2017, are delighted by Dafne Keen (19) return. She played the mutant Laura, who was later revealed to be Logan's daughter and wields adamantium claws like him.
As one of the longest-standing figures in the entire MCU, Happy Hogan, portrayed by Jon Favreau (57), makes an appearance. Deadpool, of course, pays a visit to the unenthusiastic security chief of Stark Industries.
These Cameos eluded German cinema-goers
German cinema audiences will unfortunately miss out on enjoying a handful of additional cameos: In some versions of the main Deadpool character from the various parallel universes, only the English voiceovers of the stars are heard. Among them are Nathan Fillion (53), Matthew McConaughey (54), and Reynolds' wife Blake Lively (36).
In the comedic banter between Deadpool and Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds references Brad Pitt's electric encounter from "Deadpool 2." The duo's search for variants leads to an unexpected encounter with a "Cavillrine," played by Henry Cavill.
Chris Evans, known as Captain America, showcases his early acting days as the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four, impressing Deadpool and the audience alike. Jennifer Garner gets a second chance to portray Elektra, almost two decades after her initial critically panned role.
Wesley Snipes' brief appearance as Blade adds another layer of nostalgia for Marvel fans, although Mahershala Ali is set to take over the role in future MCU films. Channing Tatum's long-awaited role as Gambit finally materializes in "Deadpool & Wolverine," despite the lack of a solo film.
In the gripping storyline, Dafne Keen returns as the mutant Laura, wielding adamantium claws like her father's character Wolverine. Jon Favreau's reprisal of the unenthusiastic security chief Happy Hogan adds an exciting twist to the Avengers tie-ins.
Although German cinema-goers miss out on some notable cameos by Nathan Fillion, Matthew McConaughey, and Blake Lively, Deadpool fans worldwide continue to enjoy the expanding multiverse of Marvel Cinematic Universe.
