The Bear sets a record in the Comedy domain

The nominated productions and actors for the 76th Emmy-Awards are set. FX series "Shogun" and "The Bear" are in the lead.

Emmy Awards - The Bear sets a record in the Comedy domain

The nominations for the 76th Emmy Awards are set. The award ceremony, which takes place this year on September 15, has seen "The Bear: King of the Kitchen" from FX emerge as one of the favorites. With a total of 23 nominations, the comedy program has made history, breaking a record set by "30 Rock" in 2009. The NBC show created by Tina Fey (54) had 22 nominations in the Comedy category at the time.

In the Drama Series category, however, "Shogun" takes the lead. The FX program has a total of 25 nominations, including in the top category "Best Drama Series." Both "The Bear" and "Shogun" are available to stream in Germany on Disney+.

Nominees in the Drama Category

Other nominated series in the "Best Drama Series" category include Netflix's "The Crown." The final season of the show about the British royals has a total of 18 nominations. Dominic West (54), who portrays the then-Prince Charles in the program, is nominated for the first time for an Emmy Award in the "Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series" category.

Additionally, "The Fallout," "The Morning Show" from Apple TV+, and the controversial Netflix production "The Three-Body Problem" (among others) can look forward to a nomination in the "Best Drama Series" category.

"Dear White People" secures 11 Emmy nominations

One of the television phenomena of the past year can count a total of 11 nominations to its name: The Netflix success "Dear White People" is not only nominated as "Best Miniseries," but also its creator, writer, and lead actor, Richard Gadd (35), is nominated three times: as "Best Lead Actor in a Miniseries," for "Best Writing for a Miniseries," and as an executive producer, along with others, in the "Best Miniseries" category. "Dear White People" could therefore be a clear favorite in the Miniseries category.

Nominees in the Comedy Category

Besides the previously mentioned comedy series "The Bear," the Hulu show "Only Murders in the Building" once again proves popular among Emmy voters. With a total of 21 nominations, the series is in the running for "Best Comedy Series." The main cast members Steve Martin (78), Martin Short (74), and Selena Gomez (31) are all nominated in the acting categories for Comedy.

Robert Downey Jr., Jodie Foster, and Da'Vine Joy Randolph: Oscar winners nominated for Emmy Awards

Recently Oscar-winning actors Robert Downey Jr. (for "Oppenheimer," 59) and Da'Vine Joy Randolph ("The Holdovers," 38) can rejoice in an Emmy nomination. Downey Jr. is nominated as "Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries" for his performance in the HBO show "The Sympathizer." Randolph is nominated as "Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series" for "Only Murders in the Building."

The former Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster (61) is nominated as "Best Lead Actress in a Miniseries" for her performance in the fourth season of the anthology series "True Detective: Night Country" from HBO. She is also happy about a nomination as executive producer in the "Best Miniseries" category. "True Detective: Night Country" is nominated for a total of 19 Emmy Awards.

In the Comedy-Awards category, "30 Rock" and its creator Tina Fey still hold a significant record with their 22 nominations in 2009. However, this year, "The Bear: King of the Kitchen" from FX has broken this record with a stunning 23 nominations. The Emmy-Awards ceremony, set to take place on September 15, sees streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+ dominating the nominations, with shows like "The Crown," "The Bear," and "Dear White People" each receiving numerous nominations. In the Miniseries category, German viewers can also follow the Emmy-Award nominations for "Dear White People," which is available on Netflix.

In the "Best Drama Series" category, another popular streaming series, "The Crown," has amassed 18 nominations for its final season. The British royals-themed show has garnered attention for Dominc West's (54) first-time nomination in the category of "Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series."
