Famous art connoisseur Kasper König has passed away. His family confirmed this to the German Press Agency. The curator and former museum director died on Friday in Berlin at the age of 80, surrounded by his family.

Art professor König served as the director of the Museum Ludwig in Cologne from 2000 to 2012 and is considered one of Germany's most influential exhibition makers. He was born on November 21, 1943, in the Westphalian town of Mettingen.
