Bitter for Hannover 96 - Teuchert's comeback in the second half of the season
It's not a surprise, but until now there was at least a little hope. But now it is certain that Cedric Teuchert (26) will no longer play this year.
Coach Stefan Leitl (46): "As things stand today, it makes no sense. I hope he'll be back for the start of training."
Teuchert won't make his comeback until the second half of the season!
Teuchert has been complaining of mysterious thigh problems since the Schalke game at the end of October and has since missed the games against Braunschweig, St. Pauli, Hertha and Paderborn. And now also Karlsruhe (8.12.) and Kiel (16.12.).
"I'm not planning on him for the game in Kiel either," said Leitl. There is reportedly no structural injury, but Teuchert is still unable to play at full strength. Leitl: "He is training individually in the areas where he can work." Changing direction is not possible without pain.
This week, Teuchert has been running laps with fitness coach Markus Böker and working out in the gym with athletics trainer Felix Sunkel.
Despite the long break, the striker is still the Reds' top scorer. Eight of the 28 goals were scored by him (including six penalties). The next best scorer for 96 is Havard Nielsen (5).
The loss hurts, especially as Louis Schaub (red ban) is also out for the last two games of the year. With Nielsen, Nicolo Tresoldi and Andreas Voglsammer, Leitl only has three strikers at his disposal.
Preparation starts on January 2nd!
After the Kiel game, Leitl gets his professionals together the next morning for the last training session, after which the vacation begins. Preparation for the second half of the season starts on January 2 with the departure to the Spanish training camp (until January 10).
Teuchert should be fully fit again by then. Perhaps the contemplative Christmas holidays with his family will do him good.
For the first time, the Teucherts are celebrating as a foursome. At the end of October, wife Lisa gave birth to little Nola Lien. Brother Neo Levi turned three on November 28. As a double dad, Cedi has yet to play a game.
