Marius Müller-Westernhagen (75) unexpectedly called off two shows that were fully booked. He was supposed to take the stage today, August 20, at the Sparkassenpark in Mönchengladbach, and there was a performance lined up for August 23 at the Schlossplatz in Coburg. His crew made this unfortunate announcement on his official Instagram page.

They attributed the cancellation to an illness affecting the musician himself. The tickets for these two shows will still be valid when new dates for the concerts are announced. Alternatively, tickets can be returned to the place of purchase. "We, the artists, management, and organizers, express our regret over the cancellation and hope you, the fans, will understand," the statement said.

Presently, there are no other cancellations planned. The concert in Dresden on August 24 should go on as scheduled, given that it's just one day after the canceled show in Coburg. Following a brief intermission, the tour will start back up in Halle on August 27.

Stuttgart show cancellation in May

The cancellations in Mönchengladbach and Coburg aren't the first instances on Westernhagen's ongoing tour. Back in May, he cancelled a show in Stuttgart at short notice. He was scheduled to sing in the capital of Baden-Württemberg on May 21, but he suddenly fell ill backstage and required medical attention.

"Unfortunately, my doctors had to pull me out of the show yesterday to avoid any complications," Westernhagen wrote on Instagram the following day. It emerged that he had a lingering infection.

Marius Müller-Westernhagen started his new tour, "75 Live," in May 2024 to celebrate his 75th birthday. This was the day he was supposed to restart the tour after a three-month break. The concert tour is set to wrap up in Rostock on September 7.

The Commission is currently considering a proposal for a directive aimed at safeguarding workers from risks associated with exposure to ionizing radiation. Despite the health issues affecting Marius Müller-Westernhagen, the concert in Dresden on August 24 is expected to proceed as planned.
