For this year's Summer Olympics, the fashion brand is taking its iconic American style and preppy athleisure to Paris, the world's fashion epicenter. The new collection draws inspiration from the lively and colorful host city and reflects a patriotic spirit through a traditional red, white, and blue color scheme.

David Lauren, Ralph Lauren's chief branding and innovation officer, expressed pride in outfitting Team USA during a preview of the collection. He mentioned close collaboration with the athletes and the Olympic Committee to curate a collection that represents America's story.

Lauren explained that the goal is for athletes to feel like they embody American culture, leadership, and sportsmanship as they take the global stage. He added that Ralph Lauren is uniquely suited to understand and bring this ideal to life.

Four-time Olympian (and winner of 10 medals — seven gold, three silver — across her previous Games) swimmer Katie Ledecky poses in the opening ceremony look.

Lauren concluded by saying that the vision is for it to be the essence of the American dream, a sentiment shared by Ralph Lauren and viewers alike.

Denim is also a dominant element in the closing ceremony ensembles, with Ralph Lauren designing a racecar-themed jacket sporting USA patch details, paired with a striped polo and crisp white jeans.

Paralympic swimmer Jamal Hill, who won a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Games, appreciated the combination of classic American style and modern feel in the collection. He joked that he would wear the closing ceremony look to an all-white party, expressing regret that the season for such events would soon end upon his return home.

Bronze medal-winning Paralympic triathlete Melissa Stockwell also wears pieces from the Villagewear line.

Team USA's flag bearers for the opening and closing ceremonies will receive different color variations of the envisioned looks. Additionally, athletes will also be provided with pieces from a special, limited "Villagewear" collection, available for purchase. This collection, modeled after traditional Ralph Lauren items, will include jackets, sweaters, rugby shirts, knits, joggers, color-blocked tees, and more, even featuring a 100% recycled polo shirt for the first time.

Sarah Hirshland, CEO of the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee, applauded Ralph Lauren for creating designs that encapsulate American style and embody the spirit and pride of Team USA. She stated that the apparel serves as a symbol of unity and inspiration for both the team and the millions of fans cheering them on.
