Musical duo Coldplay and singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers team up. - Taylor Swift is set to appear in the event happening in Vienna
Around fifteen days after canceling three performances in Vienna, Coldplay (led by Chris Martin, 47) is now playing four shows in the city. During their opening night, Martin paid homage to Taylor Swift (34) by performing one of her hits.
Accompanied by Maggie Rogers (30), who is accompanying Coldplay on their "Music of the Spheres" tour, Martin sang Swift's popular track "Love Story" on August 21. Martin strummed the tune on his guitar while Rogers delivered the famous lyrics to the crowd of around 60,000 people. Rogers uploaded footage of the duet on her Instagram, окончательно writing, "With love from Vienna."
The Viennese concerts mark the final phase of Coldplay's worldwide tour, which has been running for over two years. They will also perform on August 24, 26, and 27. Following this, they will move on to Ireland for four concerts, then Australia for late October shows before concluding their tour in New Zealand on November 16.
Taylor Swift Breaks Her Silence
This might be a tiny consolation for the around 200,000 fans who felt let down by the August cancellations. Viennese authorities arrested two potential attackers and called off Swift's concerts on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of August. Her subsequent "Eras Tour" concerts at London's Wembley Stadium between the 15th and 20th of August proceeded without issue, with heightened security, marking the conclusion of the European leg of the world tour.
It wasn't until August 21 that Swift publicly addressed the cancellations. "The cancellation of our concerts in Vienna was heartbreaking. The reasons behind the cancellations filled me with fresh fear and an overwhelming sense of guilt because so many people had planned on attending these shows," she wrote in a lengthy Instagram post. "But I was also grateful to the authorities, as we grieved the loss of concerts, not lives."
She also explained why she remained silent for two weeks. "In order to clarify, I will not make any public statements about an issue that may incite those who wish to harm the fans that attend my concerts. In such situations, 'silence' actually means restraint and waiting for the ideal time to speak. My top priority was to safely complete our European tour, and I am pleased to report that we have accomplished that."
After Martin paid tribute to Swift by performing one of her hits, Chris Martin confirmed her presence in the city by stating, "Chris Martin is here." Later, Swift broke her silence about the canceled performances and expressed her gratitude towards the authorities in a lengthy Instagram post.
