Sylvester Stallone sells off his watch collection, with one piece fetching millions.

Opulence redefined: High-end Living at Its Finest. - Sylvester Stallone sells off his watch collection, with one piece fetching millions.

When Sylvester Stallone became wealthy in Hollywood, he began his watch collection. A gold Rolex likely inspired his interest. With his ongoing success in front of the camera, his collection grew. Stallone even procured a very rare Patek Philippe watch.

Recently, this watch took center stage in Sotheby's "Important Watches" auction. In total, Stallone sold eleven watches, all vastly different. The auction raised $6.7 million for these prized possessions.

Unmatched Prestige: The Most Expensive Watch Sylvester Stallone Never Wore

The record-breaking sale of $5.4 million was attributed solely to the legendary Patek Philippe 6300G-010 Grandmaster Chime. Never before had a watch from this series been publically auctioned. The Grandmaster Chime is considered one of the most complicated wristwatches (if not the most complex) in the world. Patek Philippe dedicated 100,000 working hours to the development, production, and assemblage of this timepiece.

Stallone explained the struggle to obtain this watch. It's no secret that Patek Philippe is particular about distributing their most coveted models. Yet, according to Sotheby's, Stallone managed to secure the first purchase in the records. He donned it in 2021 solely to marvel at it.

Rolex, Audemars, and Panerai - Size Matters

The accessory lineup for this watch is unusual for a timepiece: The Patek Philippe 6300G-010 comes with a certificate of authenticity identifying Stallone as the original purchaser, product literature housed in a substantial leather portfolio, a collector's book, a travel case, cufflink buttons, a USB drive, a seal pin, a keyring, an Apple iPad with a Patek Philippe protective case, a charger, and Apple earbuds with a Patek Philippe case.

Not everyone enthusiastically endorsed the sale of this unique watch. In an interview with the watch magazine "Watchpro," Patek Philippe's CEO, Thierry Stern, voiced his disapproval. "Of course, we don't like it, but it can happen. I can't control everyone. It's not fair for a customer who may have waited years for this piece only to see it sold," Stern said. His statement left open the possibility that Stallone may have lost favor with Patek Philippe, resulting in a cessation of future watch purchases.

Stallone likely made a profit of approximately two million US dollars from the sale of the Grandmaster Chime. Some collectors disapprove of this quick profit-making practice.

The sale of the watchmaking deity has cast a shadow on the other watches Stallone sold from his collection. Nonetheless, these pieces included some true gems like multiple Panerais, a Rolex, an Audemars Piguet, and a substantial Cartier.
