Tobogganing - Strong lugers: three races, five podium places

Three races, five podium places: Germany's lugers came up trumps at the last World Cup of the year in Whistler, Canada. World champions Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal won the women's doubles ahead of Dajana Eitberger and Saskia Schirmer.

In the men's doubles, six-time Olympic champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt came out on top ahead of Austria's Thomas Steu and Wolfgang Kindl. Hannes Orlamünder and Paul Gubitz came third.

Langenhan wins again

At the start of the Canada World Cup, World Championship silver medallist Max Langenhan also won the next World Cup race of the season. Just like a week ago in Lake Placid, the 24-year-old won the single-seater competition ahead of World Champion Jonas Müller from Austria - this time with a lead of 0.255 seconds. "I made a few small mistakes. I'm very pleased that it was still enough," said Langenhan.

At the dress rehearsal for the 2025 Luge World Championships, Langenhan secured his ninth win in a row this season. "It's a good feeling to leave here with," he said, looking ahead to the title fights after next. At the World Cup opener in Lake Placid, the 24-year-old won the sprint competition as well as the single-seater event. Three-time Olympic champion Felix Loch finished the single-seater race in Canada in 26th place. David Nössler finished in 14th place.

The doubles pairs in the men's and women's singles took their first victories of the season. "In general, we can be really satisfied," said Jessica Degenhardt. The duo finished 0.080 seconds ahead of Dajana Eitberger and Saskia Schirmer. "Delivering such a good performance right from the start as very young beginners is fun. We are slowly getting into the flow and hope that we can take this into the new year," said 32-year-old Dajana Eitberger. Together with young Saskia Schirmer, it was the third podium finish in the third race for the 2018 Olympic silver medallist in the single-seater.

After fifth place in Lake Placid, Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt secured their first win of the season in Canada. "We're super happy with the result. It gives us confidence," said Wendl. The highlight of the luge season is the World Championships in Altenberg at the end of January.
