Will Smith - Stage comeback with a new song
Actor and musician Will Smith (55) is back on the big stage. On Sunday evening, he made his largest live comeback since the Oscar slap, presenting his new single "You Can Make It" to the audience at the BET Awards. He performed the song with singer Fridayy and the Sunday Service Choir. The song was released just two days prior. Smith stood on a circular platform in the middle of a ring of fire and was supported by Fridayy and the gospel choir after his first rap verse. As a surprise, gospel icon Kirk Franklin (54) appeared on stage as a special guest at the end of the song.
To promote his new song, Smith wrote on his official Instagram account a few days ago that music has always been there for him during his darkest moments to "lift him up, help him grow." He hoped that the music could do the same for his fans and "bring all the joy and light that everyone deserves." Smith mentioned in an interview in May that he had been in the studio for a long time and was working on new music. He also hinted that the upcoming album could be called "Dance in Your Darkest Moments." Singer Teddy Swims (31) also revealed in another interview that he had recorded a song with Will Smith.
Will Smith also performed at Coachella
In the past few months, Will Smith has been reviving his music career. He appeared on stage at the Coachella Festival in April for a brief performance. During J Balvin's concert, Smith came on stage in his typical "Men in Black" outfit and performed the title song of the 1997 movie hit of the same name. At the "Grammy Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop" at the end of the previous year, Smith gave a medley of his biggest hits, including his 90s classic "Gettin' Jiggy With It." His wife Jada Pinkett Smith (52) and his children Willow (23) and Jaden (25) supported him in the audience.
