St. Brown improves German touchdown record
Six touchdowns in the first season, six touchdowns in the second - and now already seven touchdowns in the current round of the NFL: Amon-Ra St. Brown improves the German record in his Detroit Lions' spectacular win against the Broncos.
Amon-Ra St. Brown has set a touchdown record for German professional footballers in the NFL in the Detroit Lions' tenth win of the season. In the Lions' 42:17 win over the Denver Broncos, the 24-year-old scored his seventh touchdown of the season and improved on his record from the previous NFL season. With three games left to play, the pass receiver can extend his haul even further. More importantly, the Lions' tenth win of the season has all but secured their place in the playoffs and, depending on the results of their rivals on Sunday and Monday, they could be there before their next game against the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Eve.
"It felt like we could do whatever we wanted. We were all in a tunnel on offense, which was fun," quarterback Jared Goff said. He had a strong game with five touchdown passes and no missed passes. St. Brown had by far the biggest gain of the game with 112 yards passing, but was still overshadowed by his teammate Sam LaPorta. The NFL rookie scored three touchdowns and now has nine this season.
For the Lions, the third-longest drought in the NFL is coming to an end; Detroit has not been in the playoffs since 2016. St. Brown has played a big part in the upswing. How good the starting position in the playoffs will be depends on whether the Lions can defend first place in the NFC North. After two defeats from three games recently, the lead had melted away. The two duels with the Vikings are crucial. The Vikings' defeat against the Cincinnati Bengals helped the Lions' chances. Minnesota lost 24:27 after overtime and now has seven wins and seven defeats.
