Sarah Jessica Parker - So difficult "And Just Like That..."-production

The cult-series "Sex and the City" continues with the sequel "And Just Like That..." after six seasons and two films. Currently, the third season is being filmed in New York, where the characters portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker (59), Cynthia Nixon (58), and Kristin Davis (59) face problems such as aging, teenage children, or dating. In Germany, fans can pass the time until the broadcast, which is likely to take place in 2025, with the second season.

The free-TV premiere on VOX starts on July 16 at 8:15 pm with three episodes. The private broadcaster then shows two new episodes every Tuesday in primetime. All eleven episodes of the second season are also available on RTL+ for retrieval, as well as a documentary accompanying the series. In an interview published by VOX for the free-TV premiere, Sarah Jessica Parker revealed the challenges of filming the sequel.

"Quite expensive and time-consuming"

In the interview, the Carrie Bradshaw actress relates that the production team in New York is increasingly harassed by onlookers. While there were no social media back then, when "Sex and the City" was filmed in the 90s, "much more people now have smartphones with cameras." Parker emphasized: "It's a much more intense audience than it used to be. It's certainly just as big, if not bigger, especially on certain streets that are known as filming locations." This complicated and complicated the production significantly: "And that was a challenge logistically speaking. For us as producers, it's a challenge to get all our equipment into the small streets of New York City, to create space for our crew and a video village." The scene had to be cordoned off, but enough space had to be left for pedestrians and fans. They "of course should be there," but they had to be told, "that talking and taking pictures with flash can ruin the takes."

However, it can still happen that a cell phone flash or a click sound ruins an elaborate take. "That's really challenging for us. But that's our package we have to carry. We handle it, but it's also quite expensive and time-consuming."

Second season to be more hopeful

After the first season began with a shock - Carrie's great love Mr. Big died - the second continuation is expected to be more positive. "She feels hopeful and much more lighthearted," Sarah Jessica Parker gives a glimpse into the emotional state of her famous cult character. Even though grief may still occasionally break through, it goes well for the author "in the big picture." Carrie is happy and rediscovers single life. "The times have fundamentally changed since she was last single. But it feels like a very joyful season. It feels like a season full of promise and discoveries for all. Not just for Carrie, but for all."
