Snoop Dogg is gonna get a mega-pay at the Olympics.

He's become as much a part of the Olympics as the Eiffel Tower is to Paris: As a special correspondent for NBC, Snoop Dogg is accompanying the event in the French capital. This isn't just benefiting the American broadcaster, but also the hip-hop star.

Snoop Dogg, the American superstar, is ubiquitous at the Paris Olympics. From the moment he carried the torch, all cameras were on him. He cheered on swimmers, encouraged Simone Biles in gymnastics, sat next to Billie Jean King at tennis, dropped by skateboarding, and even provided a quirky live commentary for the badminton match between the USA and China.

NBC, the powerful American network, has hired the hip-hop star as a special correspondent for the Olympics, and it's proving to be a huge success. Videos of the 52-year-old trying his hand at judo or weightlifting are going viral online. "We need more Snoop in sports broadcasting," one user commented.

They Want Snoop Dogg

According to Bild, Snoop Dogg is being handsomely rewarded for his appearances. The newspaper reports on a young investor, Henry McNamara, who supposedly attended a dinner with NBC. There, a high-ranking official allegedly said Snoop Dogg earns $500,000 (around €456,000) per day in Paris. For 16 days, that would amount to $8 million (€7.3 million). But that's not all. He's also set to receive a separate fee, the amount of which is unknown. In total, Bild reports, he could earn up to $15 million (€13.7 million), with a bonus for high TV ratings.

Snoop Dogg's appearances are meant to boost NBC's ratings, which have been declining in recent years. "The network hopes that Snoop Dogg's aura as one of the most well-known and beloved figures in pop culture will attract viewers of all ages," the New York Times wrote. And it seems to be working: Bild reports a 79% increase in ratings compared to the Tokyo Games three years ago.

Snoop Dogg enjoys his role as the unofficial mascot of the games. "They don't want me to be anything I'm not. They want Snoop Dogg," the rapper, who has long since become a businessman, said. And his money? No surprises there, he's invested it in the cannabis market.

So, Snoop Dogg will continue to roam the streets of Paris, watch the competitions with the families of American athletes, crack jokes, and "shake up" the Olympics. "This is the biggest sporting event. We only have it every four years, so we're going to make the most of it," Snoop Dogg said.

  1. The anticipation for Snoop Dogg's involvement in the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris is already high, with reports suggesting his earnings could reach up to $15 million.
  2. With Snoop Dogg's successful stint as a special correspondent at the ongoing Olympics, there's no doubt he'll be an even more significant figure at the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris.
