Skytrax Announces Top Global Airline for 2024

If you're seeking the best flight experience, it's recommended to go with Qatar Airways. That's according to this year's Skytrax Awards, announced on Monday.

For the eighth time in the 25-year history of these prestigious awards, known as the Academy Awards of commercial aviation, Qatar Airways was named the World's Top Airline. This recognition was given for the quality of service provided on their modern fleet of aircraft.

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, shared, "Qatar Airways' victory in this World’s Best Airline title for 2024 is truly remarkable. We congratulate Qatar Airways on this success and hope it brings great pride and satisfaction to the airline management and staff."

Over the past decade, Qatar Airways has built a strong reputation, helping Qatar's award-winning Hamad International Airport establish itself as a global aviation hub, competing with regional rivals Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Qatar's fleet includes A380 superjumbos, Boeing 777-300ERs, 787-8s and 787-9s, Airbus A350-900s and A350-1000s, and a range of smaller jets.

Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways' CEO, stated, "This award is a testament to our unwavering dedication to providing exceptional service and innovation. We are honored and look forward to continued success."

Singapore Airlines finished second in the rankings, with the closest contest since the awards began in 1999, requiring a recount. The rest of the top 10 consisted of Dubai's Emirates, Japan's ANA, Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Taiwan's EVA Air, Air France, and Swiss International Airlines.

Singapore Airlines received awards for Best Cabin Staff, Best First Class service, and Best Airline in Asia, while ANA was recognized for World's Best Airport Services and Best Airline Staff Service in Asia. Saudia was named World's Most Improved Airline, followed by Taiwan's Starlux and Iceland's Play in second and third places, respectively.

AirAsia was once again named the World's Best Low-Cost Airline, repeating an achievement attained every year since 2010. Singapore's Scoot was named the World's Best Long Haul-Low Cost Airline.

In Asia, Bangkok Airways won the World's Best Regional Airline award for the eight consecutive year, with Vistara being named best India/South Asian carrier and Fiji Airways being Best Airline in the Australia/Pacific region.

Ethiopian Airlines was named Africa's best, and Turkish Airlines was Europe's best, with airBaltic being Eastern Europe's winner and Hainan Airlines being best in China.

Delta Air Lines received the awards for Best Airline in North America and Best Airline Staff Service for the region.

The post-Covid world's top 10 cleanest airlines were mostly based in Asia, with Cathay Pacific taking the top spot. The rest included ANA, EVA, Qatar, and Singapore.
