German skiing hopeful Kira Weidle also fell short of expectations in the downhill in Val d'Isère. The Starnberg native only finished 13th at the World Cup in France, with her team-mate Emma Aicher in 24th place and Katrin Hirtl-Stanggaßinger in 40th.

"I'm just looking for my feeling in the race," said the visibly dissatisfied Weidle on ZDF. She didn't make any big mistakes, analyzed the 2021 World Championship silver medallist, "but there's a lack of activity from top to bottom." She may be trying "a little too hard" at the moment. After her ninth place in the downhill in St. Moritz a week earlier, she had set her sights high, reported the 27-year-old.
