Twenty-five years' age gap

Singer Michelle and Eric Philippi are set to tie the knot.

Right off the bat, Eric Philippi made his intentions known: Michelle is the lady he desires to spend forever with. Plans for a wedding have been in the works for quite some time, as they have openly shared with a massive audience.

Michelle and her partner Eric Philippi are now engaged. Two months ago, the 27-year-old spilled the beans to Florian Silbereisen during the dress rehearsal for "Schlagerboom Open Air" that he had popped the question. A year beforehand, the two had announced during the same extravaganza that they were an item. Despite the skepticism, wedding bells will soon be ringing.

Dialogue between the two on the stage with Silbereisen followed: "Many thought you two wouldn't last, but today you can sell them up the river. You're not only a couple anymore, you live together, you work together," Silbereisen said. "Especially since there weren't just positive voices back then," Philippi reminisced, recalling his nerves from a year ago. Then the singer went on a tangent: "We've faced the deepest depths and the highest peaks together. For me, it was clear from the get-go, and we've been an item for longer than most people know."

"I replied with an undeniable yes"

The 27-year-old spoke fondly of his 52-year-old partner: "We've conquered joys and sorrows side by side. This is the woman for my life, and I want to spend the rest of mine with her." Michelle chipped in: "He popped the question and asked for my hand, and I responded with an undeniable yes." However, they have yet to make concrete plans, according to Philippi: "Probably just a low-key ceremony."

The couple's family planning also seems to be in the works. They spoke recently on RTL's "stern TV am Sonntag" about their thoughts on adoption. With a possible third withdrawal from the Schlager stage in July, they might have more time for a child. Michelle also hinted on the show that she may be releasing her last Schlager album. Despite this, she still has plans for live performances.

Michelle was in a relationship with Matthias Reim, a musician, from 1999 to 2001, and they had a child together. Before that, the singer was married to Albert Oberloher, another Schlager singer, with whom she also had a child.

Michelle and Philippi sang a duet addressing their significant age difference. "Their chemistry is astonishing, causing everyone to stare. The fact that he's younger than her - that's where the problem lies. Some just don't comprehend it," is heard in the first verse. The song shoots down naysayers: "If loving each other is frowned upon, then nothing makes sense. We all understand love is all that counts."
