"I play Lars Brunner, Maren's ex-boyfriend," Hardy Kruger Jr. explains in an interview with the broadcaster. "They had Lilly and Jonas together and were a good, happy couple. At first, Lars also made a good impression in his father role, but as he went to America, the contact with his children deteriorated because he focused on his career." According to RTL, Lars lost contact with Jonas (Felix van Deventer, 28) and Lilly (Iris Mareike Steen, 32).
The character has always wanted to be a doctor, Lars went to the United States after graduating from medical school to specialize in plastic surgery. "I took the long absence from my family in Berlin into account, but it turned out to be a big mistake," the 56-year-old explains. "He loves life and always has a quote ready, but takes his job very seriously and is responsible." Lars has a good relationship with his ex-partner Maren Seefeld (Eva Mona Rodekirchen, 48).
Between Discipline and Openness
Hardy Kruger Jr. also talks about the similarities and differences between himself and the role. "When I set something in my mind, I do everything to make it happen. Ambition and discipline are not foreign to us both," the acting star explains. "The zest for life and lightness appeal to us both, and we often laugh at ourselves, which can also lead us into awkward situations."
However, a major difference is that the role is a doctor, while he is an actor. But even in their essence, there are contradictions: "He is open to people, while I am rather the type who withdraws when I'm not on stage."
Excited about the role of Lars Brunner, Hardy Kruger Jr. mentions, among other things, that this character "has many layers" and "there are also unpleasant things he has to put up with. That makes a character credible and ensures that it develops."
Hardy Kruger Jr. will make his first appearance in the popular RTL daily "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" (also via RTL+) on August 6, starting at 19:40.
