Siegemund secures Grand Slam victory in the mixed category at the French Open

Tennis pro Laura Siegemund has claimed her third major championship title. At the French Open's mixed competition, she and her French compatriot Edouard Roger-Vasselin triumphed over Desirae Krawczyk (USA) and Neal Skupski (GB), concluding their victory with a score of 6:4, 7:5.

Siegemund had previously obtained a Grand Slam win in 2016 at the US Open alongside Croatian Mate Pavic. Four years after that, she secured the championship in women's doubles at the same venue with fellow Russian Vera Swonareva at the same competition.

Excited to perform on Philippe Chatrier court, especially with her French partner's probable encouragement from the audience, Siegemund remarked, "Winning a Grand Slam final has always been a dream for individuals, no matter the competition. I'm thoroughly enjoying being on this grand stage."

Prior to this achievement, Siegemund lost in the singles round and also with compatriot Barbora Krejcikova in the women's doubles quarterfinals.

Olympics: Partnering With Zverev?

The athlete animately intends to participate in all three competitions during the Paris Olympic tennis tournament. Siegemund is keen to join Olympic champion Alexander Zverev in the mixed event, just as they did during the United Cup in Australia at its commencement. "I asked him if he'd want to play with me. There's no response," Siegemund remarked. "I find it a bit challenging if it's an instance of his last-minute decision. I think he should be straightforward about it."

In past events, rumors had suggested Zverev and three-time major victor Angelique Kerber would contend in this tournament's mixed doubles.
