The popular TV series "Euphoria" has catapulted actress Hunter Schafer (25) to fame, and now she's making waves in the movie world. Schafer has landed a major role in the upcoming "Blade Runner 2099," confirmed by industry site "Variety." This Sci-Fi shows takes place in the same universe as the iconic film series.
The series comes from Amazon and is a follow-up to the original movie by Ridley Scott (86) and the sequel "Blade Runner 2049" by Denis Villeneuve (56). Set 50 years later, it's an exciting addition to the franchise.
In the Works for Some Time
The details of the series' story are under wraps, as are Schafer's specific role, but there's been another notable addition to the cast. Michelle Yeoh (61), an Oscar winner, is said to be playing a leading role.
Silka Luisa is set to be the showrunner, along with Ridley Scott and others, as they work on this ambitious project. The planning for this has been ongoing - Scott first mentioned it in 2021. Then, about a year later, Amazon secured the rights to the show.
Schafer rose to fame in her debut film "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" last year. This year, she'll be seen in "Cuckoo," a German horror film. And in July, she'll be in cinemas with her role in Giorgos Lanthimos' (50) new project "Kinds of Kindness," which also stars Emma Stone (35) and Willem Dafoe (68). It's not yet clear when the "Blade Runner" series will premiere - keep your eyes on the Tannhäuser Gate.
