Cambridge's royal princess renames charity - She expresses regret for not attending the show.
It seems that Princess Kate (42) has expressed regret for absenting herself from a crucial rehearsal for the upcoming "Trooping the Colour" ceremony. She wrote a letter to the Irish Guards, a military unit that will be participating in the event on June 15th. In her missive, she expressed hope that she'll have an opportunity to represent them soon.
Kate, who is the "Regimental Colonel" of the Irish Guards, was expected to be present at the general practice for "Trooping the Colour", organized for June 8th. However, Kensington Palace made a statement in late May stating that Kate would not be present at this event.
Does Kate have plans to appear on the royal balcony?
The 42-year-old has been receiving cancer treatment since revealing her diagnosis in March. Since then, she has skipped all official engagements. There are rumors, circulating in the British tabloid 'Daily Mirror', that Kate might make a public appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace after the "Trooping the Colour" parade. She might do so if she feels well enough.
However, even if she does make an appearance at the palace balcony, it does not necessarily indicate that Kate will be present at more outings from then on. According to undisclosed sources from the royal household, Kate is planning to resume her duties as soon as her doctors allow her to do so. But non-stop public appearances can't be guaranteed at this moment.
In the meantime, even as he battles cancer, King Charles (73) is expected to participate in 'Trooping the Colour' from a carriage along with his consort, Queen Camilla (75). Charles was present at public gatherings despite his health issues. He recently attended a D-Day commemoration ceremony in France on June 6th.
