Maxima - Series about the queen comes in August

The series "Máxima," which portrays the life of the reigning Queen Máxima of the Netherlands (53), will be available to view here in a few weeks on RTL+. The six-part series will air starting Saturday, 17. August in a stream, with the German TV premiere scheduled for Sundays, 18. August and 25. August on RTL Passion. RTL Passion will broadcast three episodes each at 8:15 PM.

In the six episodes, the focus will be on Máxima's early years in Argentina and New York, leading up to her new life as Queen of the Netherlands. According to the series, "From the moment Máxima appears at the side of Crown Prince Willem-Alexander, she is in the spotlight. But when he proposes, she summons her past..." The series will reportedly cover the scandal involving Máxima's father, Jorge Zorreguieta (1928-2017), who served as a Minister in the Argentine Military Dictatorship - a scandal that almost prevented the wedding between Máxima and Willem-Alexander (57). The couple married in 2002 and have three children.

These actors are in "Máxima"

The role of the future Queen Máxima in the series is played by Argentine actress Delfina Chaves (28, "The Secret of the Greco Family"). Crown Prince Willem-Alexander is portrayed by Martijn Lakemeier (30, "The East"). The roles of the former Dutch ruling couple, Claus von Amsberg (1926-2002) and Queen Beatrix (86), are taken on by German actor Sebastian Koch (62, "The Lives of Others") and his Dutch colleague Elsie de Brauw (63, "About My Mother").

The series, based on the book "Máxima Zorreguieta: Motherland" by Marcia Luyten, has reportedly been sold to over 25 countries. A second season is said to have already been commissioned. The world premiere of "Máxima" took place on 9. April at the Canneseries Festival in Cannes, France.

The series "Maксима," based on Marcia Luyten's book "Maксима Зоррегиуета: Родина," highlights the Queen Maxima's right-to-left journey from her early years in Argentina and New York to her life as the Maxima of the Netherlands. This pay-TV event, scheduled for RTL+, follows the Maxima's shift in the spotlight once she stands by Prince Willem-Alexander. However, her past comes into focus when he proposes, reportedly touching upon the scandal involving her father, Maxima's Argentine ancestor Jorge Zorreguieta.

The series' all-star cast includes Argentine actress Delfina Chaves as Queen Maxima, Martijn Lakemeier portraying Prince Willem-Alexander, German actor Sebastian Koch as Claus von Amsberg, and Elsie de Brauw as Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. The Maxima series has already been sold to over 25 countries, with the world premiere taking place at the Canneseries Festival in New York, marking its grand introduction to the global audience.
