Six years ago, Selma Blair shared that she was struggling with multiple sclerosis. Since then, her condition has had its highs and lows. One thing's certain: her service dog Scout has helped her regain a bit of her independence. Recently, she even brought Scout along to a film festival in New York, where he joined her on the red carpet.

Selma Blair refuses to let her illness define her. The actress openly discusses being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). In her daily life, she's supported by her service dog due to the challenges posed by the nerve condition. At the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, she introduced Scout to the photographers on the red carpet.

Blair, a prominent member of the festival's jury for the past couple of years, was in attendance at the premiere of "Diane Von Furstenberg: Woman In Charge" on June 5. She appeared cheerful in a black dress and high heels. While her husband mingled with the photographers, Scout relaxed by her side on the red carpet.

Scout has restored her "independence"

Selma Blair and her Labrador Scout have been a pair since 2021. In an interview with People magazine a year later, the "Cruel Intentions" actress praised their partnership. "He's an amazing gift. He's always with me. When I have a severe cramp or struggle with balance, he steps between my legs and helps me up, allowing me to regain my balance," she shared. The dog by her side helped her regain some "independence."

Selma Blair announced her MS diagnosis in 2018. Since then, the 51-year-old has faced numerous setbacks from the incurable disease and relied on a cane for mobility. By openly discussing her experiences, she hopes to motivate others. In 2021, she agreed to let a documentary crew follow her through a risky stem cell therapy treatment in the hospital.
